I just wanted to add... that we had a very enjoyable day at the Scottish Smallholder and Grower Show - thank you to all the organisers and visitors.
I talked about electric fencing for an hour and as the talk was held in Ring 2 at the market I felt a little like a Gladiator in the ring with the crowd baying for my blood! Fortunately all was well with the crowd in the terraces... and I survived - in fact they were a friendly bunch!
Many questions were asked and answered. and I covered everything form the basic needs and choosing those items correctly through to the most common fault of poor earthing. I discussed the range of energisers and the methods of powering them together with the costs involved. After nearly an hour of interesting questions and answers/discussions I demonstrated the testing of a simple system. Because the fooring was concrete I even brought my own little bucket of earth to make the system work. Don't forget a steel post in concrete does not earth!
