Protect your Sports Ground
Recently we had a lovely weekend break in Northumberland. I'd never been further south than Banburgh exploring this stretch of coast line. It is very un-spoilt and undeveloped.
We walked up to visit the Chillingham Cattle (http://www.chillinghamwildcattle.com/) on Saturday - which reawakened my interest Aurochs and we had a spooky walk around the medieval Chillingham Castle...
On our way home we drove past an electric fencing set up! As I always do... I asked my husband to turn the car around so that I could get some photos. It is always easier to explain how a system can work to protect an area when you can see photos of it in action.
Protect your Sports Ground
Whether it is a bowling green, football pitch, golf course or cricket pitch the potential for damage from wildlife is there. Foxes, badgers and rabbits can ruin a pitch in one night. They are normally looking for bugs in the earth. But they may just be usuing your well mainteained sports field as a toilet!
What ever the reason for these animals visiting your sports field they are unwanted guests and many clubs and associations look for an effective solution to keep these pests away.
An electric fence is a simple and affordable solution. They are easy to move and require minimal maintance.
Bowling Greens – we have devised many systems for bowling greens over the years. We offer two types of kits on our shop – 1. a netting system or 2. a line system. The type of system required will depend on the club set up and also the type of animal you are trying to keep out. Click - Bowling Green Kits. See pictures below.
Cricket Pitch – Many village cricket pitches are open fields and therefore open to many different types of vermin. The British weather stops enough play…don’t let the wild animals make it worse! And so it is important to keep the wicket free from holes and damage. A 100m netting system will do the job, normally run off battery. See pictures below:
Football Pitch – Again many football pitches are rural and part of an open field… they are open to being destroyed by wildlife. Netting or line systems can be used to protect the pitch. Again unless there is mains in a shed nearby the system will be run off 12v battery. See pictures below (think the bottom line needs clearing!):
Golf Course – it would be quite tricky to protect a whole golf course!! – it is possible however to use electric fences to protect parts of the course (for example: protecting new turf).
Not sure which system would be best for your sports ground?... if you need further information please contact us – we would be happy to help.
