So when would you use a Shrike?
With its clean modern looks it's very popular for paddock fencing or strip grazing particularly within the equestrian sector. It's so easy to use and is very compact but efficient too, making it great for shorter temporary electric fencing - but don't be fooled - it can do up to 800m fencing - powerful enough for many applications. And just think, with this dinky little energiser will not have the hassle of recharging 12v batteries.

How does the Shrike energiser work?
It works from 2 x 3v D-Cell batteries (similar to torch batteries) and these batteries will last approx 6-8 weeks running 24 hours a day. The cleverly designed shape of the shrike means that it can be placed on the fence line in between two fence posts (which are placed closely together) to prevent it from being blown along the fencing line or it can be attached to a fence post. Or it can even be hung on the earth stake (ES2) - in effect using the earth stake as a stand. It is good practise especially in our wintry weather to test your fence regularly with a fence tester to make sure it is working well.
So how do you get the Shrike up and running?
It's so easy! All you have to do is insert batteries into Shrike, attach the live lead to the fencing and attach the earth lead to the earth stake and then turn on (all leads are included). The pulse indicator will start flashing immediately to show every second pulse travelling out from the energiser along the fence so you can see at a glance that it is working!

Solar Panel Add On
As already mentioned it is possible to add a 2.5w solar panel to the Shrike. The solar panel doesn’t charge the batteries but it runs the energiser during daylight hours. Once the light has gone the batteries take over and power the energiser. This extensds the life of your batteries.
